But, this post will be helpful for Facebook page owners to understand what is going on in the world of the social media giant, Facebook.

We will be discussing observations of our social media watch team and try to lay down some points that will help you understand what Facebook is actually looking for in pages and how should you continue using Facebook safely.

How Has Facebook Evolved Over The Past Year

With time, we have seen Facebook’s focus shifting heavily from just a social media website to a website which realizes that it has the ability to change the perception of people through different types of fake or unconfirmed news.

Facebook also acknowledged last year that they have come to an understanding that people reply a lot on Facebook as a news and information source. Since then Facebook has taken drastic steps to meet the expectations of people.

Over the passage of time, especially in 24 months, the company has continuously taken steps to ensure the delivery of reliable information to people. Although there still are loopholes in the site social media giant seems to be working efficiently to tackle them.

So Facebook has taken down a huge number of pages whether small or large if they were found guilty of violations of Facebook’s terms and policies. And this has affected them badly, especially smaller publishers and new brands. Moreover, Facebook introduced harder requirements to get a better reach on Facebook.

Now, it’s not like it was a year before when you created a post and it went viral right away and you were ready to reap the revenue just with little no effort. Now, not all the websites experience same reach and benefits on Facebook. Rather, any brand has to prove reliable over time with the least negative feedback and minimum complaints about the bad user experience on their website.

Its proven that big or reliable social media brands get a high reach on Facebook and smaller or newer websites experience very low reach as compared to those well-established social media viral content websites.

And smaller websites or brands also have much less life expectancy on Facebook. Because, they tend to make more mistakes and take their content and editing less professionally, which seems like a big no-no on Facebook now.

What does Facebook Expect From You?

They want to see the value that you bring on facebook. They want you to provide or share quality content with your audience. Even if you share the well-reputed brand link on your page, they expect from you that you must have checked and read the thorough information provided inside.

It’s solely your responsibility to offer authentic information on your page. So, it’s not whether you use smaller or bigger brands on your Page, it’s mainly the authenticity and reputation of the brand which matters most.

Now, you have to have complete control of your Facebook page and personally make sure that whatever you share on Facebook complies with facebooks terms. It’s not like those good old days when you created a page asked your employees to just post random stuff that’s working on other pages.

So they want you to take more responsibility on your facebook page, Only share content which is clean and fact-checked.

What Does Facebook Seem To Hate At The Moment

Multiple pages sharing the same website links regularly and or Facebook pages joining as publishers to different brands as affiliates and generate revenue by sharing their links. Hate it or not, but Facebook team is certainly very strict towards publishers who join different brands’ websites. Facebook has never publicly claimed that this practice is not appreciated by them, but they have surely taken action against pages that do so. So it’s pretty much up to you to decide.

We are only here to share the broader perspective about it and share the story covering both sides.

What Should You Do To Earn Without Losing Your Page

In the light of the above-mentioned points, you are left with very few choices if you want to earn money using your page.

  1. Publish own content on own website
  2. Join a Brand as a publisher.

In any case, you must follow the guidelines and do not try to spam or violate any terms or you might get affected by Facebook’s highly advanced AI bot.

You must be thinking those two points are actually common sense, it’s not rocket science to figure out the best possible scenarios. But hang on there is more to it, which is actually the main thing which puts you in trouble.

Although I have mentioned the same point like a broken record in the whole post, but this is actually the difference in conducting a successful run on the facebook page.

If you haven’t yet figured it out then I am talking about authentic content, authentic content, authentic content. It’s more than ever important right now to focus on publishing information which is reliable, which is not clickbait and actually creates sense and is backed by the facts.

Apart from this, you must also take time before you start publishing your blogs on many other pages that you might own or start partnering with other pages to share your content. As mentioned above facebook seems to hate this practice. So before you launch yourself big you must make sure that your links are not being spammed and or are sharing information based on facts.

If you implement these tips on your pages and websites then you are good to go.

Current Common Practices To Share Links On Facebook Pages

The best practice currently is to join many reliable brands, partner with them and share their links.

Before you join any viral content website make sure you have done your research. Make sure they have a good reputation online and their content has not been reported recently on fact-checking websites, or other news media websites.

Because we have seen a strange connection between fact-checking websites and facebook. Our research shows that Facebook is well connected with many such websites & their employees share the information personally and report you personally. Which actually makes it even harder for you to get ignored if you are not following the guidelines for some time.

So before you are reported by these fact-checking or news media websites make sure you internally have developed great systems and teams which are able to self-detect problematic content on your website or facebook page and take it down in time.

So after you have done your research, join the reliable brands and share their links. Don’t rely on a single website to generate revenue. You must use links from different authentic brands.

So Follow the guidelines which Digital Makeeter has provided you with and this should work well for you.

Update 17th September 2019: Don’t Recommend Revenue Share Now

Under current circumstances, I don’t recommend joining other publishers on the basis of revenue share. Ass that’s too dangerous and not really worth it anymore.

Currently What’s Working?

  1. Create video content. As much as you can. Create videos. This is the number one thing that most facebook page owners are doing right now. If they meet community standards then most are using ad breaks.
  2. Viral Blogging: Yes publish factual content without sensationalizing the headlines. Don’t spam your website and should be good to go.
